Nayir Iqbal: The cricket lovers of the country are waiting for the battle between Bangladesh and India in the semi-finals on 15 June.
The historic semi-final match has already become the talk of the town.
Bangladeshis are hopeful about another good result in the match after a stunning victory riding on sparkling innings from Mahmudullah (102 not out) and world number-1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (114).
Aminul Islam, former skipper of the Bangladesh Cricket team, told Prothom Alo that if Tigers can play in a planned way, there no reason to be defeated against India. It's true that India is a powerful opponent, but Bangladesh has the ability to fight back.
Talking to Prothom Alo over phone from Dubai, the former Bangladesh captain said he is confident of Bangladesh victory in the historic semi-finals against India.
"Bangladesh is not a much less performing team comparing to India. Rather, we have experienced players like Mashrafe, Shakib, Mahmudullah, Mushfiq and Tamim.
"I think if Bangladesh can play in a planned way, there is no reason to concede a defeat against India."
Aminul Islam, who made first Test century playing 39 matches for bangladesh, thought that Bangladesh have two strong sides--batting depth and diversified pace attack.
"Once our batting lineup does well, we can achieve a big score. If Bangladesh can use that effectively, victory is must."
Aminul also said there is no alternative, but doing a good fielding against India.
"As India's batting lineup is solid, weak fielding can make a disaster. Kohli, Rohit and Dhawan; no one should not be given a chance during fielding."
Aminul also expects that the team which played against New Zealand can be played against India, too.
He said Shakib could be the trump card for Bangladesh in the semi.
"Keep in mind one thing that Shakib is a player of the big match."
