Asked to bat first in overcast conditions, Tamim and Mushfiqur paired in a 123-run third wicket stand to fashion a strong base for the Tigers at Edgbaston on Thursday.
Before being bowled out by Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja, Tamim stabilised the Bangladesh innings with seven fours and one six.
Later, the second big scorer Mushfiqur Rahim added 61 off 88 with four fours.
At the beginning, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar rattled Bangladesh with his two wickets.
Soumya Sarkar was also bowled out by Bhuvneshwar at the last of very first over. Then Bhuvneshwar took Sabbir Rahman who added 19 runs to the Bangladesh score board.
Mahmudullah was dismissed at 21 runs while Mashrafe Mortaza scored 30 not out.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged 2 wickets each.
