Former Home Minister and Awami League Presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun has passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Thailand.
She breathed her last around 11:16pm on Thursday (9 July) at Bumrungrad International Hospital, said her nephew Mojibur Rahman. Earlier on Monday, she was taken to Thailand for better treatment.
Earlier, Sahara, a 72-yer-old ruling party MP from Dhaka-18 seat admitted to United Hospital in the city on June 2 with fever, allergy and old-age complications.
However, the report of her coronavirus test came negative. On June 19, Sahara Khatun was moved to the intensive care unit of United Hospitals Ltd as her condition worsened.
As her condition improved, she was shifted from ICU to HDU (High Dependency Unit) on June 22. On the morning of June 26, she was again taken back to ICU as her condition deteriorated.
