Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put emphasisze on ensuring availability of vaccine to all countries at a time. She said, “We hope that the Covid-19 vaccine will soon be available in the world. It’s imperative to treat the vaccine as a global public good. We need to ensure the timely availability of this vaccine to all countries at the same time. If Bangladesh is provided with the technical know-how and patents, Bangladesh has capacity to go for vaccine production on a mass scale.”
The Premier said this in her pre-recorded address at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Saturday night.
Noting that the global challenges posed by the Covid-19 epidemic have become more pronounced, the Prime Minister said, “This epidemic has forced us to realize that there is no alternative to multilateralism in overcoming this crisis.”
She said, “On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, we have a great confidence in the multilateralism enshrined in the United Nations Charter. We are determined to uphold the ideals of multilateralism in face of many adversities at the national level.”
