Shakib’s grandmother laid to rest in Magura

Bangladesh national cricket team all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s grandmother Rebecca Nahar, 87, was laid to rest on Thursday (January 14).

She was buried at Magura municipality graveyard after Namaz-e-Janaza in the district town field of Shaheed Suhrawardi College around 2:00pm.

Shakib Al Hasan could not attend the Namaz-e-Janaza due to Coronavirus health rules ahead of upcoming West Indies series, Shakib’s father Masrur Reza Kutil said.

Earlier on Wednesday (January 13), she breathed her last around 10:00 pm on Wednesday (January 13) at her residence in Magura.

Rebecca Nahar left behind two sons, three daughters, grandchildren and a host of relatives and admirers. Among them, Shakib Al Hasan is currently playing in the Bangladesh national cricket team and his daughter’s son Mehdi Hasan Ujjwal was a former player of Bangladesh national football team.
