The government will help the family members of prominent freedom fighter and also the last mayor of undivided Dhaka, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, bring his body back home for burial, said Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.
Meanwhile, the minister expressed profound shock at the death of the BNP leader and prayed for his eternal peace.
He said: "We are shocked at the death of Khoka and the government will surely help his family members bring his body back home."
The minister made the remarks while talking to reporters after today's cabinet meeting.
According to family sources, the BNP leader wished to be buried in Bangladesh and as per his last wish, the family members will take his body back home and will lay him in rest here.
He has breathed his last today with his last wished to be reminded unfulfilled.
The BNP leader while undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital in the USA, could not return home before his death as he did not have any Bangladeshi passport in his possession.
He died in a hospital bed in abroad with an immense urge to breathe his last on the soil of his beloved homeland. before his death, while talking to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khoka wished to be buried in Bangladesh after his death.
