Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has alleged that propaganda is being spread against the government on social media over the coronavirus death toll.
He came up with the allegation while speaking at a programme at AL president’s Dhanmondi political office on Friday. He joined the programme through video conference from his official residence.
Obaidul Quader said, “A vested quarter is involved in spreading propaganda against the government on social media.
“People who died with coronavirus-like symptoms. Their samples are being tested later and detected with positive and negative. But the quarter is trying to spread misinformation that all died of coronavirus,” he added.
Quader said, “The Digital Security Act was made to control cybercrimes. Many are spreading rumours on social media. Law enforcers are taking actions against them who are instigating different crimes.”
He further said, “Home Ministry is always alert so that nobody can misuse of the Digital Security Act.”
He also urged people to inform if someone falls victim of the Digital Security Act.
