Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the number of coronavirus cases and deaths is very low in Bangladesh compared to that of developed countries due to the timely decision and proper steps taken by her government.
The premier said this while addressing a function marking the 34th founding anniversary of Special Security Force (SSF) through video conference from her official residence Ganobhaban.
"We have already implemented various programmes to face the situation triggered by the fast-spreading virus. Providing humanitarian aid, maintaining economic growth, announcement of financial stimulus packages and social safety programme are among the programmes taken by her government," she said.
Regarding the widespread clutches of the coronavirus, she said that the whole world is stagnant and astonished due to the fear from this invisible virus.
The Prime Minister blamed coronavirus for stalling all advancement of the country.
"We are celebrating programmes related to the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman following digital method in order to avoid public gatherings so that people do not get infected," she said.
She said that the government has given special attention to saving lives side by side ensuring food, treatment and education for all.
The premier requested the people of the country to strictly maintain the health guidelines set by her government.
